Heat-insulating cover method at a factory in Yan City | Achieving leak prevention and energy savings
Renovation of a 40-year-old factory in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture. A case study combining measures against rain leaks and energy-saving roofing.
In a metal parts processing factory in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture, the 40-year-old roof was renovated. To address leaks and improve energy efficiency, a heat-reflective cover method was used for the roof renovation. Maintenance through painting had been carried out gradually every year for about 20 years, but leaks occurred, and painting alone reached its limits. Additionally, the use of gas air conditioning made utility costs a concern. Therefore, instead of removing the existing roof, Reflectix was applied over it, and a new roof was installed using a cover method. After the construction, the leaks were resolved. Furthermore, during the first summer after the work, it was confirmed that gas usage had decreased by 20%, demonstrating the effectiveness of the heat-reflective measures. Subsequently, due to the noticeable effects, heat-reflective work has also been carried out at their home.
